About Venus is a 20-something drag queen based in South Jakarta. She lives with her kostmate Jo and mostly Gojeks around town doing modelling and performance side gigs. Vee (as her friends call her) has a cheerful demeanour and is always on top of the latest trends and happenings around town. She can be a bit of a clutz if she's not in her headspace. Much of her design aesthetics have been borrowed from Javanese bridal attire and/or formalwear. Her greatest fear is being forgotten, her deadly sin is envy.

About Born and raised in Ohio, Nicole went to business school and landed a job at a multinational company that stationed her in Indonesia. She is an expat living in central Jakarta and deals mostly with international business partners and associates. Though she would've liked living in Bali more, the hustle and bustle of city living is the best fit for her lifestyle. Her cigarette brand of choice is Esse, she only drinks socially, and she uses ride-hailing apps to get anywhere since it's ridiculously cheap for her salary.

She met Jo many years ago, in the first few months of her stay, after being referred to them by a tarot reader friend of hers. Jo has a peculiar understanding of how the dark underbelly of business transactions work, so she offered a deal. Their business relationship soon developed into a romantic one- one that only stayed that way for 4 months. Nevertheless they're still on good terms, Jo likes inviting her over for movie nights (along with Venus) or to catch up with her recent endeavours.

About Hector is a grumpy history major in his 7th year of university. He runs a scrappy mystery podcast about the happenings in and around the town of Chester. He has a makeshift Sherlock costume he uses whenever he podcasts. Most of his days are spent running around campus grounds, snooping around mystery hot spots, and occasionally checks in on the student body press— of which he is the chief. Apparently nobody had thought of a clause that could demote a student if they've passed the 4-year study limit, and the members (approx. 4 other people) don't mind, so he stays holding that title. Hector enjoys the status of university student and the perks of being chief of student press, but he really ought to finish his studies by now and get a real job. Speaking of which, Hector is also dating Gabriel, a senior from the same university who has long graduated and landed a teaching job.

He has a merry gang of wannabe mystery detectives who also want to snoop around and possibly uncover secrets...

About City of mist character, borderline con artist (but only towards rich people), and a total wifeguy for his boyfriend.

Eccentric, mischievous, smooth bastard; Gabriel landed a teaching job at a high school and has a side gig that includes selling art. Despite his English major background- that never stopped him; indeed his craft of bullshittery and flattery has landed him in prestigious places and funds most of his lifestyle. He craves to be liked by his students and his peers. He's quite proud of himself for being quite popular in the teacher's room. Despite the constant* proposals and love confessions he receives, he's already taken.

Gabriel met Hector when the latter was holding an informal student press meeting at a cafe (it was sudden and they couldn't obtain the permission to use the empty classrooms). Swamped in revisions and speech transcripts with smooth jazz playing over the loud speakers, Gabriel saw an angel without wings walk into the dimly lit wooden cafe interior, the sunshine from outside bouncing off his frizzy brown curls as if it was a halo. Suffice to say he asked Hector out not long after the group wrapped up the meeting. (Gabriel was too distracted by Hector that he didn't make any research progress for the rest of the day).
